Mobilise Mobility: Removing Transport Barriers

Mobilise Mobility: Removing Transport Barriers

Mobilise Mobility provides tailored transport support to people facing or at risk of homelessness. After hearing from our charity partners that reliable transport was a major barrier preventing people from getting to work, education, healthcare, or staying connected with community, we designed Mobility to help people focus on what matters most: stability, independence, and their next chapter.

The Problem

Transport is often invisible until you don't have it. Without reliable transport, people can't:

  • Get to job interviews or work
  • Access healthcare appointments
  • Attend educational courses
  • Stay connected with family and community
  • Maintain stability in their lives

For people experiencing homelessness, transport barriers compound every other challenge they face.

How Mobility Works

We provide tailored transport support based on individual needs, working through our charity partner network. Support can include:

  • Purchasing vehicles for participants
  • Covering public transport costs
  • Providing fuel assistance
  • Supporting vehicle maintenance

Each solution is customised to the person's situation and goals.

The Impact

A Family's Story

Through conversation with a charity partner, we heard of a Kickstarter participant whose only mode of transport was a homemade, adapted e-bike. They would ride their children to school and appointments on this bike, with one child on the front and two on the back.

Through the Mobilise Mobility programme, we were able to buy them a car, allowing them to now find employment with the travel time saved and overall safety for the children.

What Transport Enables

Reliable transport isn't just about getting from A to B. It unlocks:

  • Employment opportunities that were previously out of reach
  • Healthcare access for essential appointments and treatment
  • Educational pathways to upskill and retrain
  • Social connection with family, friends, and community
  • Independence to navigate daily life with dignity

Without transport, people remain trapped in cycles of missed opportunities, cancelled appointments, and social isolation.
