2.2 Our direct giving programs

Direct giving refers to the act of providing donations or resources directly to individuals or families in need. Mobilise currently has 5 programs that do exactly this - providing funding directly into the hands of people who need it and therefore allowing them the choice to meet their needs in the best way for them.

Since 2023, we have provided 300+ program participants with trust and autonomy, empowering them to use our platform and resources to write their own next chapter.

In each of these programs, we work with charity partners, who have a direct connection to people in need, allowing us to solely concentrate on making these programs the best they can be. Case managers at these charities refer participants into our programs, where we have processes to approve and evaluate them, so that the programs continue to improve and address important needs.

Matched - our first program

Mobilise Matched is our Australia-first direct cash transfer program - a ground-breaking program that gives cash to people in hardship, not only providing them with financial assistance, but comprehensively transforming the lives of people navigating through the homelessness.

There's a lot of evidence that direct cash transfers work well in the developing world, but in developed countries like Australia, they haven't been well-tested. That's where we step in - our work will contribute to the global evidence base surrounding direct cash transfers, and most importantly, transforming the lives of those in need.

Kickstarter

Kickstarter is a rental assistance program aimed at ending the cycle of homelessness by helping people remain in, or enter, the housing market. We provide rental support for up to three months that includes bond payments, ensuring that people experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness have access to secure housing

Through Kickstarter, we aim to improve financial stability by reducing immediate rent stress and creating a buffer for future expenses. It helps people gain the independence they need to take on their next chapter, and above all, ensures that people have a secure housing situation.

Pay

The Mobilise Pay program focuses on the unique challenges facing single-mother families. It is a year-long program, but it goes beyond financial assistance, utilising a voucher and gift system to cover necessities like utilities, groceries and also extracurricular activities for children who otherwise would not have the opportunity.

Wellbeing

Mobilise Wellbeing covers full out-of-pocket costs for essential psychiatric assessments, empowering individuals to better manage their mental health and therefore fostering long-term financial stability. A diagnosis also means that participants can gain access to ongoing financial aid opportunities, including through government programs.

By making mental health diagnoses more accessible, we aim to set up a stable future for our participants and reduce the risk of facing homelessness.

Mobility

Mobilise Mobility provides tailored transport support to people facing or at risk of homelessness. After hearing from our charity partners that reliable transport was a major barrier preventing people from getting to work, education, healthcare or staying connected with community, we designed mobility to help people focus on what matters most: stability, independence, and their next chapter.
