Weekly Impact Story

Kate is wanting to work, dog walking, wash cars or mow lawns. She just needs the work to be close to public transport.

At the start of 2023 Kate’s daughter suddenly passed away. Not having her daughter to care for anymore, Kate left the abusive relationship that she was in. Having nowhere else to go, Kate felt that life would be better on the street rather than staying in her relationship.

Kate’s dog Channel warns Kate at night if people get close while Kate sleeps.

When Kate must sleep on the street she sleeps outside of a 7-Eleven or a McDonald’s.  She feels it’s a little safer. If Kate can raise $50 then she’ll stay at a backpackers.

Don’t make people feel invisible when you walk past. Look down, say hello, give them a smile. Make them feel seen. Be kind. Do good.
